Privacy Policy

Lingot is an AI-assisted language learning service provided by MAVILIO Corporation, Japan. For any privacy-related request, you can write to support@lingot.net.

This policy explains which data we process, why we process it, and which rights you can exercise.

1. Data we process

When you use Lingot, we may process:

  • account data: email, display name, encrypted password, interface language, time zone, account status;
  • learning data: native language, studied languages, level, goals, teaching preferences, chosen AI voice, profile settings;
  • user-provided content: messages, texts to correct, exercise answers, requested topics, possible audio or voice transcripts;
  • service-generated data: corrections, lessons, reports, session history, progress, vocabulary, credit usage, and teaching statistics;
  • technical data: IP address, user agent, access logs, technical events, errors, data necessary for security and service operation;
  • payment data: payment status, purchased plan, Stripe identifiers, amounts, currency, credits, and accounting records where applicable.

Full payment card data is handled by Stripe, not by Lingot.

We do not ask you to enter sensitive data. We invite you not to share unnecessary information in Lingot, such as health data, personal documents, financial data, professional secrets, or personal information about third parties.

2. Why we use data

We use data to:

  • create and manage your account;
  • provide lessons, corrections, conversations, exercises, and AI functions;
  • personalize the learning experience;
  • manage credits, subscriptions, payments, and refunds;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, and malfunctions;
  • respond to support requests;
  • comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations;
  • improve stability, security, and quality of the service.

We currently do not use your data for email marketing.

3. Use of artificial intelligence

Lingot uses AI services from OpenAI to generate replies, exercises, corrections, audio, transcripts, or teaching content.

To function, the content you enter and the context necessary for the lesson may be sent to OpenAI. Under OpenAI API standard settings, inputs and outputs sent via API are not used to train or improve OpenAI models, unless the service owner explicitly opts in.

Lingot does not intend to share user content for model training, unless explicitly communicated otherwise.

4. External services

To provide Lingot, we use or may use external providers, including:

  • Hostinger for hosting and infrastructure;
  • OpenAI for artificial intelligence functions;
  • Stripe for payments and related management;
  • email services for technical, access, security, or support messages;
  • possibly Umami for privacy-friendly analytics, if activated.

These providers process data only within the limits necessary to provide their respective services.

5. Cookies and analytics

Lingot may use technical cookies necessary for login, security, session, and preferences.

If we activate analytics, we use them to understand in aggregate how the service is used and to improve it. If Umami is activated, it is used for essential and aggregate statistics, without advertising profiling purposes.

Details are provided in the Cookie Policy.

6. Retention

We retain data for the time necessary to provide the service, protect accounts, maintain history and learning progress, manage payments, and comply with legal obligations.

In general:

  • account data remains as long as the account is active;
  • learning data remains as long as it is useful for the learning experience;
  • payment and accounting data may be retained for the period required by law;
  • technical and security logs are retained for a limited period, unless investigation, abuse prevention, or legal obligations require otherwise.

We are working to define more specific retention periods.

7. Deletion and rights

You can write to support@lingot.net to request access, correction, export, restriction, or deletion of your data, within the limits provided by law and accounting or security obligations.

Automatic account deletion from the interface may not yet be available. In that case, we will handle the request through support and confirm the outcome once completed.

8. International transfers

Lingot is managed by MAVILIO Corporation in Japan and may use providers located in other countries, including the United States or other jurisdictions outside the European Economic Area.

Where necessary, we adopt reasonable contractual, technical, and organizational measures to protect transferred data.

9. Minors

Lingot is intended for users who are at least 16 years old.

Users under 16 may use Lingot only with the consent of a parent or guardian, or through an authorized school or organization.

If we become aware that an account has been created or used by a minor without adequate consent, we may limit, suspend, or delete it.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including authenticated access, encrypted passwords, token controls, technical logs, and role separation where applicable.

No online system, however, can guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes

We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal obligations change.

If the changes are relevant, we will try to communicate them appropriately.
